John Doe Named Superintendent of SAD 25 in Stacyville, Sherman Station

SHERMAN STATION -- The principal of East Millinocket’s Schenck High School was named superintendent of schools for SAD 25, with five elementary schools, one junior high, and one high school, representing Stacyville, Sherman Station, Mount Chase, and Patten.

After contract negotiations last week, a tentative contract was agreed upon between the SAD 25 board and Schenck’s principal, John A. Doe, who was one of two finalists interviewed by the board’s selection committee from a pool that once contained eleven applicants.

Doe, of East Millinocket, holds a degree in eduational administration from the University of Maine.

Doe served School Union 113 as an assistant principal at Medway Middle School until 1992, when he was appointed principal at the Opal Myrick School in East Millinocket. In 1997, he moved to Schenck High School, and has served as its principal since.

Positions at Schenck are in danger of being eliminated through a tuitioning of high school students to Millinocket, or through an actual consolidation of Millinocket, East Millinocket, and Medway schools.

Doe will succeed Charles Pease, who resigned his position as superintendent of SAD 25 schools last October, effective June 30th of this year. Last night, however, the SAD 25 board voted to accept Pease’s resignation immediately, and to hire him as interim superintendent until July 1st, when Doe is expected to be available to assume the superintendency.
